Dawn Harris Brown's inspiration for abstracts comes from nature as well as her impressionist plein air painting in Provence, France. Dawn was born in Texas into a ranching family. After majoring in art at the University of Madrid, she spent another three and a half years in southern Spain. 

She developed food as a form of art while attending cooking schools around the world. Dawn is also the owner of Browncroft Publishing in Covington, Louisiana and has published a number of cookbooks.  When not painting she is hunting her 12 lurchers or she is cooking for friends and family. 

Dawn has two children, three grandchildren, and lives with her husband on a farm in Covington, Louisiana.
